Military Life in Hawaii

Hawaii is home to one of the largest percentages of armed forces service personnel in the United States. It also ranks third among states receiving federal defense spending. The Department of Defense is the state's second major source of revenue, second to with tourism. Military and NGO personnel and their families regularly move to and from Oahu. They are an important and significant part of our island ohana (family).


Each year the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii's Military Affairs Department works with the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism to gather statistics regarding the economic impact Hawaii's Military has in the islands.
